History and Tradition
TAKE A LOOK BACK THROUGH OUR 40+ YEARS OF HISTORY FROM OUR HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO OUR AMBITIOUS FUTURE
est. 1976
The original Saddle Rack was a legendary San Jose, California, country music and dance club founded by Hank Guenther in 1976, known for its two dance floors, stages, and mechanical bull. After its San Jose location closed in 2001.
The venue was famous for its mechanical bull, two dance floors, and multiple stages. While known for country, the club also booked rock acts and hosted performances by major artists like James Brown, B.B. King, and Garth Brooks.
Re Opened 2003
The name and brand were revived in 2003 by Gary Robinson and Andy Buchanan who opened a new, larger 26,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by a hot tub manufacturer in Fremont. The Fremont location, a popular destination for country music fans, continued to serve the country-western community as a popular live music venue for almost two more decades. Before closing permanently in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
